• Warm Notice: Each unit has several lights and a DC unit hooked up to a DC system will power all of the indicator lights and vice versa; an AC unit hooked up to an AC system will power all of the indicator lights. If you hook a DC unit to an AC system, however, only 1 of the indicator lights will work and vice versa, but the unit will still be safe and function properly.

Description:

• Different Voltage:The SPD is available in three different voltages to maximize the level of protection required. Protection is achieved by reducing the clamping voltage to a safe voltage that the system can withstand without damaging any electronics in the system.The maximum operating voltage of the SPD must be higher than the system voltage. If the SPD operating voltage is equal to or lower than the system voltage, the SPD will see this as an overvoltage event and begin to shunt current to ground. This can cause the SPD to degrade or fail, which is not good for the system. Selecting an SPD with the correct voltage will provide excellent protection and peace of mind for years to come.
• Grounding System:A good grounding system is essential for both safety and lightning protection.The NEC recommends a grounding resistance of 25 ohms or less.The lightning protection industry recommends a grounding resistance of 10 ohms or less. A thorough evaluation of the grounding system is strongly recommended. 1) This product contains no serviceable parts. 2) Use a power cord suitable for 90°C. The wire used to connect the SPD to the line or bus should not be longer than necessary and should be free of unnecessary bends.
• Easy to Install:Some homes have surface mounted electrical panels. These panels are easy to install SPDs on. Simply pop out a 7/8-inch diameter knockout hole and mount the SPD on the door.Other homes have service entrances that are flush mounted and not exposed. This type of installation will benefit from an SPD flush mount box. Cut a hole in the drywall near the electrical panel and install the box in the hole. Once the wiring is complete,secure the box with drywall anchors.Be sure to plug the hole in the electrical box with a washer.
• Note:Before installation or maintenance, check to ensure that the system voltage does not exceed the SPD voltage requirements and that the correct SPD voltage/type has been selected.This unit must be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA-70) and applicable local codes.Ungrounded power systems are inherently unstable and, under certain fault conditions, may produce excessive line-to-ground voltages. Under these fault conditions, any electrical device,including SPDs,may be subjected to voltages exceeding its design ratings.
