 This tool works on Generation IV & V V8 engines for GM/General Motors. If you're working on a Generation 3 engine you'll need J-42907 instead
 Applications: Fits for Corvette Camaro / Malibu and ATS, 2006-LATER CORVETTE, XLR-V, STS-V, Gen IV/Gen V V8, LGE Engines.
 The oiling system on the small-block V8 engines now requires the use of a unique oil filter, and the oil pressure sending unit is not readily accessible. EN-47971 is installed in place of the spin-on oil filter, and allows existing oil pressure gauge J-21867 to be attached for engine oil system diagnosis. EN-45299 Engine Pre-luber can also be attached to pre-lubricate the engine prior to starting a replacement engine.
